Podcast Feature: Lemkin Society Executive Director on Protecting Cultural Heritage in Ukraine
Our Executive Director, Anastasiia Oleksii, recently joined Paris Sistilli and Andrea Konigs on their podcast Art in Brief, together with Roksolana Makar of our partner-project The Wall Evidence.
Anastasiia spoke about Russia’s systematic destruction of Ukrainian culture — from attacks on schools and heritage sites to the killing of cultural figures. She underscored the urgent need to document these losses, pursue accountability, and safeguard collections through digitization, including the work to preserve the holdings of the Mariupol Museum of Local Lore.
Art in Brief is hosted by Andrea Konigs, an arts professional and associate art advisor at The Fine Art Group in New York specializing in Post War and Contemporary art, and Paris Quetzal Sistilli, whose work focuses on cultural heritage protection and the intersections of art and law in post-conflict zones.
The podcast explores a wide range of fascinating art law cases and tackles the big questions they raise. Whether you’re an art enthusiast or new to the subject, Art in Brief offers an engaging and accessible way to understand this dynamic and evolving field.
